PRACTICE AREAS
Robert Tharp’s practice areas involve financial litigation and representation of his clients in all areas of family law. Mr. Tharp finds found that having a solid understanding of financial issues to be great value dealing with complex and large divorce cases that involve large assets and complicated estates. Mr. Tharp is always continually learning and improving upon his skills and experience with each courtroom experience.
Mr. Tharp is vastly experienced in all areas related to family law, handling cases involving divorce, modifications, appellant work as well as contempt proceedings. He routinely handles cases with large estates and often works on cases involving businesses where it would be difficult to value the business during the divorce proceedings. Mr. Tharp goal is to first have his clients solve their issues amicably, through the skills and knowledge he’s achieved through his mediation training.
GENERAL BACKGROUND AND EDUCATION
Mr. Robert L. Tharp is a child of a military family which allowed him to move throughout the United States and abroad. In high school Mr. Tharp was recognized for his debate skills and competed in national level debates representing his high school.
Mr. Tharp graduated from Emory University in 1993, in university he became actively involved in the College Republican party eventually becoming the president of the Georgia Conservancy. Mr. Tharp also further developed his debate skills while attending university where he won numerous college debate tournaments, some of these awards included best freshman debater, most improved debater, and first place award in Vanderbilt’s national debate competition. As an avid debater he’s reached national elimination rounds in championship debates while in university.
After graduation from Emory University in 1993, Mr. Tharp continued his studies for his Juris Doctor Degree which he received in May of 1996. Even while attending law school Mr. Tharp continued his involvement in debate programs helping coach Emory University’s debate program and assisting as a debate coach in several high schools in Georgia.
Mr. Tharp is always improving his skills and education after graduating from law school to better serve his clients. Mr. Tharp has recently completed his formal mediation training to help clients better resolve disputes.
